Who runs this site
FoilGalaxy is a free, non-commercial hobby project (in beta), run by Alessandro Mascheroni (TheBigMask), Switzerland. You can reach me through the contact form.
What FoilGalaxy shows
Product data (specs, sizes, photos and prices) is collected from the public pages of brands and shops. Prices are indicative and may have changed since. FoilGalaxy is not affiliated with the brands listed; brand names, product names and photos belong to their owners. If you represent a brand or shop and want something corrected or removed, use the contact form and it will be done promptly.
Personal data
Contact form. When you send a message, your name, email address, subject and message are stored on the FoilGalaxy server. They are used only to read and answer your message, never shared or used for marketing, and deleted on request.
Technical data. Like any website, delivering pages requires your IP address and basic browser information. They are used to serve the site and protect it from abuse (for example, to limit how many messages one sender can send), not to identify you.
Statistics. Visits are counted with Umami, running on the FoilGalaxy server itself. It uses no cookies and builds no profile of you: it reports totals such as page views, countries and the sites visitors came from, and the data stays in Switzerland.
Error reports. When something on the site breaks, technical details of the error (page, browser, time) are sent to Sentry so it can be fixed.
Cookies and local storage
There are no advertising or tracking cookies, so there is no cookie banner. The site sets one cookie, region, only when you choose a region or currency, to remember your choice. Your browser's local storage keeps your theme and the products you put in the compare tray; they never leave your device.
Where data is processed
The site, its database and the statistics run on a server at Infomaniak in Switzerland, and your browser connects to it directly. Cloudflare only provides the domain's DNS and stores the nightly backups, encrypted before they leave the server (Cloudflare cannot read them). Sentry receives error reports, stored in its EU region (Germany). Product photos are loaded directly from the brands' own websites, so your browser connects to those sites to show them.
Transfers abroad
Your visits, the contact-form messages and the statistics stay in Switzerland. Error reports go to Sentry, a US company, whose EU region keeps them in Germany; Sentry is certified under the Swiss-U.S. and EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. The encrypted backups at Cloudflare (also a US company) cannot be read by Cloudflare. Product photos come from the brands' own websites, some hosted outside Switzerland and the EU (for example in the USA): showing a photo connects your browser to that site.
Your rights
Under Swiss data protection law (and the GDPR, for visitors in the EU) you can ask what data about you is stored, and have it corrected or deleted. Use the contact form.
